How to pass IELTS Test

Many people worldwide spend hours searching for information on how to pass the IELTS test. Fortunately, many sources offer an easy answer: complete more learning and training. But, sadly, the world of IELTS is much more tricky. Our research has proven that passing or failing the IELTS test often depends on:

·        Which test module do you sit for?

·        Is it the Academic or General Training module?

·        In which country do you take the test

Of course, this is amazing as one would assume that the same rules apply independently of module and country. Therefore, in our opinion, every IELTS test candidate should be equally treated.

We did our research based on 33.000 worldwide between 2010 to 2018. We found out that the IELTS Academic module is generally spoken of as being fair in terms of meeting statistical expectations and the test results for each country. However, the IELTS General Training module is another story. It is an appropriate test in some countries, and in others, the test results are arbitrary.

But why is that?

It seems that IELTS tests are used to regulate migration into some countries. These countries have a specific number of immigrants per year, and English proficiency tests are used to control this number and the applicant's nationality.

For test-takers, the test results are often random outcomes of the test. The test-takers have to retake and retake the test and spend enormous amounts of money for a test that does not disclose how the test is scored.

What next?

We will proceed with our work and want to find out what's happening by analyzing more current data. We need to add to our database to understand more about the IELTS test.

We need your help.

As stated earlier, our data covers a limited timeline. We need current test data, so if you have any results from the past, we kindly ask you to upload these via the "Share your result" button.

We want to make immigration systems fair and equitable. For example, if the sitting of an English language assessment test is a lottery, immigration authorities should state this clearly.
